This plaskon Kadette K-151 was purchased off ebay to accompany my bakelite model 90. The radio was originally painted an ugly grayish green as seen in the first picture below, but it was offered with the original shipping carton. Fortunately Plaskon is resistant to chemical strippers and I spent several hours stripping off the paint to reveal the original cabinet. All the tubes were missing including the ballast tube. While I was able to track down replacement tubes, the ballast was replaced with a homemade "tube" containing a large nonpolarized capacitor to drop the remaining line voltage for the series filaments, which is a much better solution than the original ballast that was just a big steamy hot resistor. The K-151 was the ivory plaskon model among a series of models including K-150 (bakelite) and K-152 (mottled peanut butter). The first two are listed in the 1938 dealer brochure snippet below.
