Apple Macintosh Classic II

Apple Macintosh Classic II

1991

The Macintosh Classic II, released in October 1991, was the last black-and-white compact Macintosh, designed as a cost-effective successor to the Macintosh SE/30. It featured a 16 MHz Motorola 68030 processor, 2MB of RAM (expandable to 10MB), and a 512 × 342 monochrome display, maintaining the classic all-in-one Mac form factor. While it shared the SE/30’s processor, its 16-bit data bus limited performance compared to its predecessor. The Classic II lacked an expansion slot, making it the second slotless desktop Mac after the Macintosh Classic. It was later rebranded as the Macintosh Performa 200, bundled with additional software for home users. Apple discontinued the Classic II in 1993, marking the end of the monochrome compact Mac era.
