Tektronix 4025

Tektronix 4025

1977

The Tektronix 4025, introduced in 1977, was a raster graphics terminal designed to integrate both alphanumeric text and graphical data into a single display. It featured an 11-inch green phosphor CRT with a 640x480 resolution, allowing for detailed vector-based graphics. The terminal was powered by an Intel 8080 processor, later upgraded to an Intel 8085, improving processing speed. Unlike its predecessor, the Tektronix 4024, which was text-only, the 4025 introduced bitmap graphics capabilities, making it suitable for engineering and scientific applications. It supported baud rates from 75 to 4800, enabling flexible communication with host computers. The Tekscope Vol. 10 No. 1 (Feb 1978) discusses its role in advancing graphical data representation. Below is the original advert for the 4025.

I donated the terminal along with manuals to the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology.
