Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 "Lombard"

Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 "Lombard"

1999

The Apple PowerBook G3 (1999), known as the Lombard, was a refined version of its predecessor, featuring a 333 MHz or 400 MHz PowerPC G3 processor, a thinner, lighter design, and improved battery life. It introduced a bronze keyboard, an active-matrix 14.1-inch display, and USB ports, replacing the legacy ADB and serial connections. The Lombard supported Mac OS 8.6 to Mac OS X 10.3.9, making it versatile for both classic and modern applications. While it lacked FireWire, it was praised for its sleek design and modular expansion, setting the stage for the Pismo model in 2000.

I was given this laptop in circa 2008 during my time as a student at Rice University. Last time I powered it in 2025, it ran OS X 10.3.
