Laser PC6

2002

The Laser PC6, developed by Perfect Solutions and introduced in 2002, is a portable word processor designed for distraction-free writing, primarily aimed at the education market. It features a full-sized keyboard, a wide LCD screen, and built-in software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and a typing tutor. The PC6 supports infrared text transfer to a Mac or PC, eliminating the need for cables, and offers optional flash memory cartridges for additional storage. Powered by four AA batteries or a rechargeable NiMH battery, it provided up to 36 hours of operation. The system lacks a traditional hard drive, ensuring automatic saving with every keystroke, and supports older parallel and Apple printers for direct printing. With its rugged design and text-to-speech capabilities, the Laser PC6 remains a niche device for writers seeking a simple, distraction-free computing experience.
