Texas Instruments TI-1626
1985
The TI-1626, introduced in 1985, was one of Texas Instruments' smallest, thinnest, and lightest calculators, designed for basic arithmetic functions. It featured an 8-digit LCD display, algebraic logic, and six functions, making it a simple yet efficient device for everyday calculations. Powered by solar cells, the TI-1626 eliminated the need for batteries, ensuring long-term usability. Manufactured in Taiwan, it measured just 2.2" × 3.3" × 0.25" and weighed 0.8 ounces, making it highly portable. The TI-1626 was part of TI’s push toward ultra-thin calculators, alongside models like the TI-1786 and TI-1606.
