Introduced in mid-1934 as a 1935 model, this Philco 54C was one of 49,415 units produced. My 54C originally was all disassembled before purchase as seen below. I believe the previous owner intended to restore the radio and obviously took it apart and sanded the cabinet pieces but never got around to finishing the project. It was one "well-prepared" kit although there were no assembly instructions but it wasn't that hard really. The cabinet was stained and given several coats of varnish. The radio only needed some minor electrical work.
