The Atwater Kent 60 was introduced in 1929 at a price of $80 with several options for cabinet styles. For ease of installation, the chassis and speaker were designed as standalone pieces. The chassis is fairly heavy and sturdy with a metal plate covering the bottom. The front panel is sheet metal with faux wood grain paint. These radios are hard to come across with a grille cloth in good shape. My example had a torn grille cloth. To repair the tear, a screen like those used on sliding doors was used with spray glue to serve as the new backing for the brittle grille cloth.
