This Zenith R509R has a nice brown bakelite cabinet that is a good example of the so-called waffle iron or eggcrate design style that started in the mid-1950s and continued well into the 1970s. Zenith offered this cabinet style with a variety of color choices including R509F (chartreuse with black grille trim), R509V (red with gold grille trim), R509W (ivory white with black grille trim), and R509Y (black with red grille trim).
